Perform a power cycle again - Turn off the unit, remove the battery and connected all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Install the battery and plug in the AC adapter. If the laptop i s plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
Press the Assist button instead of the power button.
If still the same, most likely it is a power or battery issue.
